This month we are featuring Portland City Art a curating team that curates around town in alternative venues. They brought us the Manor of Art, the Door Show, the Love Show & more! We are celebrating their one year anniversary highlighting what they do best with an exhibit, “A Rainy Day Wildfire”. Spring’s slow stirring warms Portland. To celebrate this reawakening, Plywerk is proud to present a group show of artwork focusing on new growth, fresh colors and a fascination with nature and its seasons.

With their recent collaboration with local ink-jet printing business Pushdot Studio, Plywerk has been able to expand the types of media that are available for printing. The result has been breath taking, as the work in the show will demonstrate. Showcasing a wide range of media and style, thaw is sure to warm the hearts and minds of Portland art lovers ready for the blossoming of the new season.

Swing by the Launchpad Gallery this Friday (TONIGHT!) for HOLIDAY in TRIVANDRUM, a silent art auction party. This is a one-night-only event featuring over 40 of David Stein’s oil paintings and drawings spanning the last five years. All of the art is marked with frighteningly low starting bids. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event will help fund Suniti Dernovsek and David Steins South India excursion.

DJ Bad Wizard will dazzle your ears and illuminate the dance floor while the beer of Ninkasi will fill you with confidence and amplify your voice.

The Jade Gate Studio, The Center for Erotic art and Culture, will host a special Art show on Feb.13th, 2010, 6 to 9 pm. This event is a celebration for the Lunar New Year, featuring local and national artists. It will feature progressive visual art, sculpture, surreal dance and aerial restraint performance. This show is for adults only. No one under 18 admitted.

Mark Yu, director of the studio will be premiering and erotic new works in oil by nationally known and published painter Kimberly Dow. Also exhibiting their works will be, Jeff Whitaker, a sculptor in metal and stone, and the famed Photoshop satirist of the left blogoshere, DarkBlack, whose work caused a tempest in the tea-bagger cup on Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. Other artists will be added soon.

The surreal neo-butoh dance troupe Seraphic Society will perform throughout the evening as well as the famed master of the lower reeds, Jay Easton. He will be performing on his rare, exotic and occasionally dangerous woodwinds he has collected from across the centuries and around the world. He is the founding member of the Brass Dragon Saxophone Band and Northstar Saxophone Quartet.
