NEW BROW II Opening Sept 1 @PCPA

2nd Annual New Brow show opens Thursday, September 1st, 2011 at Portland Center for the Performing Arts, main floor gallery, SW Broadway and Main. Featuring 50 up-and-coming Portland artists in a variety of media. 5-8 pm. Show runs through September 30th.

What The Timbers Saw – Art celebrating Portland Timbers

Local Artists Neil Perry and Susannah Kelly, in conjunction with the Timbers Army, are organizing a group show of Timbers-related art to celebrate the team on the eve of their first Major League Soccer game at the newly renovated Jeld-Wen Field.

What the Timbers Saw will open on April 7th at The Bitter End, located at 1981 W. Burnside as part of the Timbers Army first Thursday event.

Art of the Music Poster at The Goodfoot

The Goodfoot is proud to announce that “The Art of Musical Maintenance, in it’s 7th year, will open Dec 9th, 2010 from 4pm-2:30am and be up until Jan 26th, 2011. They will be displaying the newest installment of music posters from artists throughout the country. The artists in this show are as diverse as the music. Likewise, the artist’s techniques vary as well (from hand drawn to computer generated designs). There are over 50 artists and around 300 posters.

Hot One Inch Action :: the Button Art Show

Conceived by Jim Hoehnle and Chris Bentzen in 2004, Hot One Inch Action is the original, one-night only show of button art, music and social interaction in Vancouver, BC. The original work of fifty different artists is presented on one inch buttons. These one inch buttons are displayed on the gallery wall and the audience is offered the opportunity to buy randomly selected buttons in mixed bags of five for $5. If the bag purchased does not have the desired button, trade with the people around you. How bad do you want that button?! That’s when the hot action starts.

This Fall, in addition to our regular Vancouver show, we’re bringing the hot action to Seattle and Portland.

Portland’s Hot One Inch Action is Thursday November 11, 2010 (8-11pm) at Backspace (115 NW 5th Ave, Portland OR). The often imitated, never duplicated, OG vinyl art show, Vinyl Killers returns this October for another round of rescuing long forgotten records from the world’s landfills. This year there have been at least 6 other vinyl shows in North America alone and interest in the art form is at an all time high. After seven annual shows and several touring exhibits Vinyl Killers remains committed to staying open call, independent, D-I-Y, and free of corporate sponsorship.

Since it’s inception in 2003 Vinyl Killers has showcased well over 1000 records painted by artists from around the world. A quick glance at the VK website shows both the genres global influence and the absolutely amazing things that are being done with paint and old records. Media recognition for this innovative show includes The Art Of Rebellion 2 and Stencil Nation, and features in numerous international street art magazines and blogs. In 2005 Klutch, the founder and curator of VK, had the room that he decorated with painted records for San Francisco’s Hotel Des Arts featured in Time magazine.

Unfortunately this will be the LAST Vinyl Killers.
