act Naturally with BT LivermoreOn First Thursday, October 6th, BT Livermore will open his show, Act Naturally, a collection of cartoonish and typographic paintings on found wood, using (mostly) found paint. The show is an attempt to take the freedom and levity of the artist’s sketchbook and transform it into a more-tangible gallery show.

Skulls & Weed is an interdisciplinary group exhibition curated by Portland, Oregon-based artist Craig Wheat. It features fifty-two visual artists from across the United States interpreting the cultural ubiquity of drug and death-related iconography in both high and low culture. A collective body of diverse contributions, the show features works by painters, photographers, tattoo artists, graffiti artists, designers, illustrators and professional skateboarders. At once playful and demonic, the exhibition aims to celebrate a nostalgia for the burnout adolescent ne’er do well.

Keep Portland Beard at The Tribute Gallery

Keep Portland Beard is an exposition of beardy art curated by Michael Buchino at The Tribute Gallery from April 19th–May 1st, 2010. The big party will be April 24 at 8 p.m. Open to the bearded and non-bearded alike.

The show will feature works by artists Rachel Caldwell, Erin Dollar, Chad Eaton, Chris Hornbecker, Jamie Reed, Ashley Goldberg, Bryan Keplesky, Brooke Weeber, Ian Seniff, Kyle Durrie, Lloyd Winter, Santiago Uceda, BT Livermore, Brian Stimson, Patrick Weishampel and Michael Buchino. Disciplines of all sorts will be represented: painting, illustration, photography, letterpress, screen printing and prosthetic beard craft.

About the Curator

In 2008, Portlander and beard ambassador Michael Buchino began Beard Revue as a comical revue of beards, grading them on a 0-10.0 scale. Beard Revue has since grown into an internet hub for beard and moustache related art, apparel and assorted ephemera.
