- Sailors stubbornly believed that many things would bring them good luck. Items believed to be lucky in this piece: a nautical star (for guidance), a rabbit’s foot, a knife, a dolphin (sighting a dolphin in the waters was lucky). Lucky tattoos included: flowers, the number 7, the sign of the cross, and a shield.
