Mergers & Acquisitions – Blaine Fontana solo show at Hellion Gallery

PinterestFacebookTumblrEmailShare

Its Hellion’s pleasure to announce Blaine Fontana’s first solo show in Portland, OR. The show will feature all new fine art, design, sculpture, and furnishings. Blaine is coming off a very successful 2011 with Hellion, having curated the TEDx installation, Hi-Fructose Feature, Tokyo Solo Show & 3 Live Paintings in Tokyo/Portland. This show has been a dream of Blaine’s ever since his senior thesis show at Otis College of Art & Design, which won “Best In Show”. Blaine was unable to create a show like this until his design, fine art, sculpture and environmental aspects all coalesced harmoniously. This show will display his love and practice of the Bauhaus, using a multi-genre discipline to achieve his total vision. The artist is coming back full circle, and is executing exactly what he had set out to do 10 years ago upon graduating. http://www.helliongallery.com/?page_id=730

Hajimari
“Hajimari” will feature a series of photographs to commemorate the one year anniversary of the great Tohoku earthquake of March 11th 2011. Japanese photographers, Dai Ishizaka and Soichiro Fukuda, traveled to the cities of Kesennuma and Minamisanriku in Miyagi prefecture to deliver food to the survivors of the catastrophe. With camera in hand they also documented the devastation. Hajimari translates into “The Beginning” in English. The artists believe that the events of last year will be a new beginning for Japan.

Hellion Gallery One Year Anniversary Show

PinterestFacebookTumblrEmailShare

It has been an incredible first year for Hellion Gallery. 2011 included monthly shows in Portland, an earthquake relief show in Tokyo, a Portland pop up shop and art show in Tokyo, a comic con event in San Diego, a Blaine Fontana TedX installation at Concordia University and the opening of Hellion Gallery South in San Diego, California.
To celebrate, Hellion is having some of its favorite artists participate in its One Year Anniversary Show. Each artist was given a panel of wood in the shape of the numeral one to create a custom piece for the show. The One Year Anniversary Show will also be the first show in Hellion’s new space. The new, much larger space is one door down from the current space, in the same building.
