    What Philosophy Can Do For Art a Research Club production Classes run from 11am to 12:30 Every Saturday From July 31st to September 25, 2010 Classes are taught in pairs so you can try out two at a time if you don’t want to sign up for the whole thing at once. But if you do, you get a further 10% off the whole thing. $5 / $10 per class Saturday, September 4 BERGSON THE DIFFERENCE OF BERGSON or A Pair of Evolutions It didn’t take long after Darwin for someone to think evolution into the halls that house philosophy: Bergson, who debated Einstein over the nature of time, will break us into the 20th century with a biological understanding of just what drives creation. Come find out why it was Bergson’s speaking appointments that caused the first traffic jams in new york, what a time cone is, the big difference between ants and people, and the meaning of elan vital. Join us on a field trip to the rose gardens to learn the difference between differentiation and differenciation, the purpose of intuition, and how to access the realm of dream Bergson changed the rules by helping us to understand the way the rules change. Stop and smell the roses while we figure out how to put him to use. ***** THIS WEEK’S CLASS WILL BE A FIELD TRIP TO THE ROSE GARDENS! WE WILL MEET AT RESEARCH CLUB HEADQUARTERS (215 SE Morrison St.) AND THEN HEAD OVER THE RIVER. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON TIME.     September 11 – October 16, 2010 Disjecta Interdisciplinary Art Center 8371 N Interstate Avenue, Portland, Oregon Gallery Hours: Friday- Sunday 12:00pm – 6:00pm, or by appointment Disjecta is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings and works on paper by esteemed artist Henk Pander. The works in this exhibition document Pander’s close relationship with his granddaughter, Mary Alice, who lived with Pander and his wife, Dolores, for over ten years. During this time, Mary Alice was a common fixture in Pander’s studio, either as a subject, or working at her own easel alongside her grandfather. Included in the exhibition, curated by Meagan Atiyeh, are oil paintings from 2002 through 2010 and artist sketchbooks. at 12:00 pm
