Danner has partnered with Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC) students to create an art installation that celebrates the unique culture of craft in Portland. To help draw inspiration for the physical work, which spells out “Crafted In Portland” OCAC students were introduced to local companies who produce their craft by hand, including Coava Coffee Roasters, Laurelwood Brewery, Oven and Shaker, Avation Gin, Egg Press and of course, Danner, who has been crafting the highest standard of boots in Portland since 1936.
Artists include Danner’s Haven Anderson, Karen Wolf, and Alfredo Contreras, and OCAC’s Natalie Jenkins, Brittany Chavez, Steele Walston and Eduardo Miranda with alumni Brian Pietrowski helping to lead the project.
The Danner brand, with its mantra of Crafting Higher Standards, is dedicated to support the future of craft in Portland, Oregon. On September 20th, Danner and the OCAC will display the “Crafted In Portland” installation at a free event that fosters relationships with local artists and celebrates artwork crafted by hand.
Attendees can enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, libations, and music as they view the installation and learn more about the project from the students who were involved. The event and installation will be in the OCAC courtyard of the Vollum Drawing, Painting & Photography Building and studio and campus tours will also be available.
