An evening of film and music celebrating the songs of Leonard Cohen. The event will start with a screening of New Skin for the Old Ceremony, a program of 11 short movies curated by Lorca Cohen and Darin Klein and initially shown at the Hammer Museum.

Then we hope you will join us to hear this amazing line-up: Neal Morgan (Joanna Newsome, Bill Callahan) + Robin Pecknold (Fleet Foxes) Katie Bernstein (Houndstooth, The Hunnies) + John Gnorski (Houndstooth, Inside Voices) Davis Hooker (A John Henry Memorial, …Worms) + Laurel Knapp (Privacy).

Friday (7/27) with Primordial Visions: Musical Projections.
Sean Pecknold and Rachel Blumberg collaborate with a team of musician friends to create live improvised films scores. The musicians include Rachel, Neal Morgan (Joanna Newsome, Bill Callahan), Graeme Gibson (Fruit Bats), Marisa Anderson, Jason Leonard (Loch Lomond), and more.

Saturday (7/28) with Beautiful Information.
What do surrealist sea creatures, psychedelic slime molds and the mechanical fuzz of raw NASA imaging have in common? They’re all part of Beautiful Evidence, a one-night experimental science cinema. Curated by Claire L. Evans, science journalist and one-half of the conceptual pop group YACHT, Beautiful Evidence will pair strange artifacts of science on film with live scores composed by Portland musicians Jeffrey Jerusalem and Golden Retriever.
