The Goodfoot will have an art opening June 25th, last Thursday, from 5-11pm.  The show will be up until July 28th, 2009.  The artists this month are Mario Robert & Matt Schlosky.

Mario Robert lll is an artist from El Paso Texas and a fourth generation carpenter inspired by comic books, movies and ancient civilizations.  Using the wood’s own grain and knots, he first develops the main idea of the painting. He then paints and sometimes carves the wood and is able to convert his simple materials into stunning art pieces. Each piece is an explosive colorful experience. Following the Mexican day of the dead folklore, he begins to add his new take on a very old tradition of telling and creating new stories.

Matt Schlosky was born and raised in Rochester, NY. In December of 2005, he received a BFA in Industrial design from The Columbus College of art and Design. After graduation Matt decided that painting was where his heart was, and that the design world wasn’t for him. Matt spent a year in the bay area painting and doing shows until July of 2008 when he landed in Portland. Matt’s artwork is inspired by comics, video games, graffiti, music, society, nature, ancient cultures, and the people he has met. He believes in his heart that art is what he is supposed to do, it’s been his mediation.
